Find a New Job for the New Year

cherokee riverIt’s a new year. Find a new job at eMarketingSilo.com.

Post your resume for free. Employers take a look and if you’re a good fit for their company, they contact you for an interview.

Search job postings for free. These are real jobs for real pay, looking for real professionals. None of this fly-by-night spammer crap you see everywhere else.

Employers are seeking professional freelancers with any of the following skills:

  • SEM (Search Engine Marketing)
  • SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
  • PPC/CPC (Pay Per Click or Cost Per Click advertising)
  • SMM (Social Media Marketing)
  • Email Marketing

Find Work at eMarketingSilo.com

If you’re looking to make money filling out surveys or are willing to write for a penny a word, please stop reading this post.

Legit freelance writers and online marketers who are serious professionals should read on.

Here’s what I could find out about eMarketingSilo.com. It is definitely legit and the competition is reasonably small, giving you a better chance of finding a job or finding a freelancer (or permanent online marketing employee).

Employers browse resumes for free. If they find your resume interesting, they contact eMarketingSilo, who then contacts you. If you’re still looking for work, the employer pays $25 to connect with you.

Employers create a 30-day job listing (advertisement) for $179. This fee is incredibly reasonable but much too high for spammers and scammers, so freelancers and potential employees are looking at real jobs for real pay.

Freelancers: If you have knowledge of internet marketing, SEO/SEM, SMM, email marketing, website design, ecommerce, or analytics post your resume. What could it hurt? Find a new freelance marketing career today.

Employers: If you’re seeking freelancers or permanent employees who know about online marketing, search engine optimization, search engine marketing, pay-per-click, email marketing, ecommerce, or web design, search available resumes. You only pay if you find a legit candidate. Or, put up an ad and let candidates respond to you. Employer/Recruiters– learn more and post now!

There really are real jobs for real pay. Stop wallowing around in “job opportunities” that waste your time and talent. You’re a professional freelancer, so go look for a professional-level job. Good luck, my friends!

P.S. Don’t be afraid to apply for a permanent job even if you’re not willing to relocate. If you’re the best candidate, many companies will work with you to telecommute. Be creative–you don’t always have to move.

P.SS. Job search expenses are probably tax deductible, so keep track of receipts and contact your accountant.

Career Goal: Work With Constant Content

cherokee riverRemember back in January when you set your goals for the year? Well, I’m not here to nag you like a mother-in-law because you forgot some of them. My own personal goals have remained spectacularly un-reached: I still smoke, I still don’t exercise enough. As for business goals, I’m pretty proud of my progress for this year.

I set out in January to diversify my income streams from freelance writing. As with everything in life, success comes mostly from the amount of work you put into a thing and a little smidgen from other people. Because of this, I’m not an About.com contributing writer, even after repeated emails. eHow left me and thousands of others at the side of the road, and I have yet to get an article approved through DemandStudios (I’ll detail my travails with DemandStudios in another post).

Gushing Stream of Income: Constant Content

Here’s the however: Constant-Content.com turned out to be exactly what I was looking for in a freelance writing website. Keep in mind, I don’t get any affiliate income from Constant-Content unless you happen to sign up as an author using my affiliate link and sell your writing. No Google ads are anywhere to be found on this website (what a relief!).

Constant-Content is just articles for sale on thousands of different subjects, in hundreds of styles, by writers you can hear as you read the words. The site is run by real humans, not faceless bots. I really believe that the editors there possess better language skills than I do, which I can’t say about too many article websites.

I am actually proud to be a part of Constant-Content. I’ve done some shady things to make money online freelancing… Constant-Content is definitely not shady.

Amazingly High Standards for Quality Writing

Nor is it easy. I lurked in the forum for a week before submitting my first article and it was still rejected. The rejection email said one of my sentences was awkward. (What, me??) Folks, I’ve written just a hair over a million words for money since becoming a professional freelancer. (I’ll sheepishly admit that I do figure such things out.)

It made me feel SO good to be rejected because of an awkward sentence. I fixed it, resubmitted, was accepted, and fell madly in love with Constant-Content.

My Goal: Earn Higher Income as a Freelance Writer

Constant-Content is not my full-time freelancing job. I still have half a dozen irons in the fire. But, any writing gig that pays me an average of 5.3 cents a word is on my radar–and probably should be on yours, too.

If you want to give it a try, click on my affiliate link here and sign up as an author.

If you want to do yourself a big favor, buy Celeste Stewart’s ebook on how to succeed at Constant Content before you sign up: Secrets to Success on Constant Content.

Look for Jobs on Mediapost.com

cherokee riverIt can be hard for professional freelance writers to find steady work. I came across MediaPost.com and wanted to share this excellent site with you.

Who: MediaPost (http://www.mediapost.com)

  • Their tagline reads, “The media, marketing and advertising professional’s leading resource for complete news coverage, engaging events, a focused social network, and comprehensive industry jobs, directories, and search.” Yep, that sums it up.
  • Registration is free and required to access some parts of the site.
  • Primarily U.S.-based.

What you can use:

Check the classifieds (http://www.mediapost.com/classifieds) for

  • Real world employment/job offers for folks skilled in graphic design, marketing, advertising, and creative. A good job may be worth relocating. It looks like most major cities in the U.S. are looking for someone with your skills.
  • Telecommuters and freelancers who have posted classified ads offering freelancing services. Once you become a member of MediaPost, you can set up your own classified ad.

Check the directory (http://www.mediapost.com/directories/) for

  • Info on media (TV, newspapers, magazines, direct advertising, radio, web sites).
  • Online industries (Internet advertising, e-marketing, online associations, research, marketing, advertising, REP, media info).
  • Media industry events (networking, conferences, expos, webinars).

Why you should use it:

  • Look for a real job.
  • Find freelance opportunities.
  • Contact media industries and offer your services.
  • Network and connect with members through forums and groups.
  • Get out of the house and go to a networking event or conference.
  • Stay home and attend a webinar.

Notes: This is a very clean and professional site. I didn’t spot any obvious scam home based business offers or junk industry listings.

OMG, What a Day

Holy buckets. My brain is mushy as new-fallen snow. Wow, what a great day. International Freelancers Day, that is.

There’s still time to register and get all the free links to webinars you may have missed. Get to http://www.internationalfreelancersday.com before 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (U.S.) on September 25, 2010 and get on that list. You most certainly won’t regret it.

I watched all 12 of today’s presentations and took copious notes. Just went back and counted up the article titles I brainstormed while the experts were talking. The total stands at 78 right now with one more information-packed day to go.

If I write 300 words about each of those 78 titles and sell them on Constant Contact, I’ll net about $2,300. If I repeat the same brain work tomorrow, that’ll be about $4,600 for two days of listening to experts talk. (Plus writing time, of course.)

Not counting any affiliate income I might earn from promoting their products. And the three ebooks simmering away on the back burner. And the incredible boost to my blog. And the spectacular ideas I got to maximize social media when the time comes. And, and, and…

Ah, the freelancing life. What a trip! Sit in my pajamas for two days, write a few articles, and get paid. Plus I got to see Zabrina from Constant Contact, and made a new friend. Not too shabby.

I think I need a nice gin-and-tonic now to settle my brain.

Get registered now! It’s a literal goldmine of information, my friends…
