Remember back in January when you set your goals for the year? Well, I’m not here to nag you like a mother-in-law because you forgot some of them. My own personal goals have remained spectacularly un-reached: I still smoke, I still don’t exercise enough. As for business goals, I’m pretty proud of my progress for this year.
I set out in January to diversify my income streams from freelance writing. As with everything in life, success comes mostly from the amount of work you put into a thing and a little smidgen from other people. Because of this, I’m not an About.com contributing writer, even after repeated emails. eHow left me and thousands of others at the side of the road, and I have yet to get an article approved through DemandStudios (I’ll detail my travails with DemandStudios in another post).
Gushing Stream of Income: Constant Content
Here’s the however: Constant-Content.com turned out to be exactly what I was looking for in a freelance writing website. Keep in mind, I don’t get any affiliate income from Constant-Content unless you happen to sign up as an author using my affiliate link and sell your writing. No Google ads are anywhere to be found on this website (what a relief!).
Constant-Content is just articles for sale on thousands of different subjects, in hundreds of styles, by writers you can hear as you read the words. The site is run by real humans, not faceless bots. I really believe that the editors there possess better language skills than I do, which I can’t say about too many article websites.
I am actually proud to be a part of Constant-Content. I’ve done some shady things to make money online freelancing… Constant-Content is definitely not shady.
Amazingly High Standards for Quality Writing
Nor is it easy. I lurked in the forum for a week before submitting my first article and it was still rejected. The rejection email said one of my sentences was awkward. (What, me??) Folks, I’ve written just a hair over a million words for money since becoming a professional freelancer. (I’ll sheepishly admit that I do figure such things out.)
It made me feel SO good to be rejected because of an awkward sentence. I fixed it, resubmitted, was accepted, and fell madly in love with Constant-Content.
My Goal: Earn Higher Income as a Freelance Writer
Constant-Content is not my full-time freelancing job. I still have half a dozen irons in the fire. But, any writing gig that pays me an average of 5.3 cents a word is on my radar–and probably should be on yours, too.
